Statement of Support
We believe building a new downtown stadium as proposed by the CWS Oversight Committee is the best option for the City of Omaha to keep the CWS in Omaha for the long-term. As such, the following people support that recommendation.

I think a new downtown stadium would be excellent! There is a lot of area to develop in north downtown and a brand new stadium would be the first perfect pitch to a perfect series of development down there. I already enjoy a few venues down there, such as the old mattress factory bar and grill and in-play and I will be staying at one of the new hotels on cuming street the end of May. I also feel the move to a new downtown stadium would free up some land for any future expansion to the zoo, which I love also. The CWS is a very exciting time for Omaha and having a new stadium down by the river with all the development would allow for such a wonderful expierence for those that attend and those that can’t get in, but are just outside enjoying the fan expierence and any new developments the city will allow in north downtown. I will be very very very disappointed if a new stadium is not built down town and Rosenblatt is kept.

Okie dokie.

Thanks to Mayor Fahey and the stadium committee for their hard work and persistence in bringing the stadium project to this point. I fully support their efforts and construction of a baseball stadium in downtown Omaha.

Do not let other people’s low standards stop progress in Omaha. Rosen(splat) is an embarrassment, and it is time to move forward.

We are excited and anxious for the new downtown stadium and are very grateful to Mayor Fahey for his vision and strong leadership.

DOWNTOWN–Lets play ball!!

i am all for a new stadium downtown. Most of the people against a new stadium are just angry that they are losing their cash cow
(parking fees on their front lawns).

I hope you guys get this done. See the big picture and make sure you get the message out!!!

I support a downtown stadium.

Let’s bring the CWS to the heart of the city! Go downtown!
April 10th, 2008 at 7:54 am
Why wouldn’t we build a new stadium??? It’s either that or no CWS at all!
April 10th, 2008 at 8:11 am
The new stadium will help Omaha compete with other larger and thriving cities, why would we not build the stadium, I think it is about time Omaha has a real stadium. “if you build it, they will come”.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Thanks for doing this!

This needs to happen to keep our city moving forward

This is in the best interest of our city!

I grew up going to Royals and CWS games in my little league uniform and have many fond memories of Rosenblatt. I took my son to a CWS game last year (his first) and his comment was this wasn’t as nice as the Tiger’s field (Comerica Park). Point here is you have to sit in your seats to enjoy the game. We love to walk around the stadium and take in the total scene; even when we have to take a bathroom break. Having lived in St. Louis and Detroit, I fully support a more open-air stadium that provides for more of an overall family atmosphere to the game. Having the event within walking distance to downtown restaurants and watering holes is a huge plus in my opinion. There will be more people stimulating the Omaha economy downtown that at Rosenblatt. I’d hang out downtown even if I don’t have CWS tickets. Bars and restaurants are a better choice then beer tents. This is a win-win for both Omaha and Henry Doorly Zoo which will benefit from the ability to expand over the current Rosenblatt location. Set up shuttles or trolley’s between the zoo and downtown; better yet, a light rail. As for the traffic issue, this is a non-issue to me. Omaha is so spoiled when it comes to traffic issues compare to most cities. Simply communicate alternative routes to the Stadium and Qwest Center. Everyone takes the same route in and out of downtown today. There are other options.

I am, and have been since the beginning, supporting the idea of a new downtown stadium. As a Nebraska born young adult I believe that the building of the Qwest Center was a great start to an “upgrade” of this community. I understand that the current stadium has history and that’s why people are hesitant to see it go, but this could be a chance for this city to welcome more visitors and keep one of the most profitable events that happen here and perhaps bring more revenue. I wish people could see the end result of how this will benefit our community, BECAUSE IT WILL!

Duh!
April 10th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
The downtown stadium location will support economic growth in North Omaha, North Downtown and in South Omaha.
April 10th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Forward progress, growth…!!!
April 10th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Omaha rocks and will be even better with a new stadium. Rosenblatt is good, not good enough anymore. Lets move ahead.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Build it!
April 11th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
I want the CWS to be in Omaha for a lot longer. If that means a new stadium, which I am in full favor of, then let’s do it. People don’t even know where Nebraska is let alone Omaha, Nebraska. It puts Omaha on the map and I want to keep it that way.
April 12th, 2008 at 2:20 am
Beautification projects that enhance economic development which in turn, maintains and attracts industry, provides for a healthy city.
Not only will the new stadium attract newcomers and create jobs, it will allow Henry Doorly Zoo to expand as a world-wide attraction.
April 13th, 2008 at 11:40 am
build it and all surrounding communities will benefit .people will come and you will see a more supportive attitude from the citizens of omaha as well as baseball fans around the metro area.even the royals could benefit this new stadium
April 13th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Like most Omahan’s, I am attached to Rosenblatt Stadium, the Omaha Royals, and the College World Series. I have attended games with my daughter, my son, my wife, my cousins and my uncles. However, I am excited about the progress of downtown. The Old Market, Creighton University, Quest Center, the Pedestrian Bridge, Gallup, the Landing, new parks, and now the stadium. I tell my friends that are against this move that it what the CWS and the athletes deserve. Thousands of people in one area walking around, from hotel to restaurent to stadium enjoying the fan fare. Shortly following will be even more retail and entertainment. The sky is the limit with this addition, and Omaha is fast becoming a destination for amateur sports. And that is what we want to be – the mecca of amateur sports. Where people matter, where kids matter, where student athletes are given the best possible facilities to pursue their dreams – right in the heart of America!
April 14th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I am attached to Rosenblatt and originally was opposed to the proposed new stadium, but now that we have detailed plans I think a new stadium is a good idea. It will be good for the CWS and also for the zoo. Change is always hard but it’s important to not let our fear of change hurt Omaha and it’s ability to florish.
April 14th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
This is a no-brainer! Build it downtown.
April 17th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Lets build this new stadium. The people against building this new stadium downtown don’t understand facts. So i will give them one. We need to build this new stadium downtown this way the CWS is always in Omaha. If you tear down Rosenblatt and rebuild there, The CWS will have to leave for a year or so. So if you are against a new stadium downtown, GET WITH THE PROGRAM
April 17th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
John could not agree with you more.We need to make sure the city council votes for the new staduim.I have talked to them, only one has said no.they others are going to vote yes or wait to see the cost to the city. All I can say is that we all need to call or e-mail the city council to get our point across.Im willing to pay for the parking,im willing to have some of our taxes pay for part of the new staduim.I can’t wait for the new staduim to be built.I only can hope that our Mayor is not recalled,Mayor Fahey has done a great job for our city.
Build it they will come from miles around to see our new staduim.

TRANSFORM THIS CITY…GET WITH IT PEOPLE….THE PEOPLE AGAINST THIS NEW BALLPARK ARE THE SAME ONES THAT DID’NT WANT THE QUEST BUILT…..
April 20th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Strong work, Mayor Fahey. We appreciate your courage to lead and your vision.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:51 am
I believe this is the best plan to keep Omaha moving forward, and to keep the CWS in Omaha.
April 21st, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Building the new stadium is another way for our city to move forward and progress. This event brings in much needed money to businesses all around omaha, and i’m sure would feel the burden if the college world series was moves somewhere else. This new stadium would bring even more life to our beautiful downtown. Change may be hard, but it is a must.
May 27th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I 100% support the new stadium and the future that it secures for the CWS.
October 6th, 2008 at 10:46 am
How many baseball stadiums have a huge dome right behind the out feild. None. It is original if you ever see a picture of Rosenblatt looking at the out feild you know exactly what feild it is.
