Statement of Support
We believe building a new downtown stadium as proposed by the CWS Oversight Committee is the best option for the City of Omaha to keep the CWS in Omaha for the long-term. As such, the following people support that recommendation.

I support building the downtown baseball stadium.

I’m writing to show support for building a new downtown ballpark. Rosenblatt is a joke, and the location is a joke as it’s isolated from anything worth doing. The ballpark belongs downtown. The CWS is the best thing about living in Omaha. When my friends from Detroit, Chicago, New York, Dallas, etc. vist, they always talk about the CWS and how Omaha is lucky to have it. I think we owe it to the NCAA to make this event the best it can be and we can do that by building a ballpark in a location that makes the most sense, downtown Omaha! Even though it’s not what they are proposing, I would pay my own tax dollars to fund the stadium project.

If the Yankees can let go of their stadium full of memories and build a new one…I’m pretty sure Rosenblatt can be let go. Memories aren’t held at a particular place, they are held in your own heart.
Build a new stadium, let Omaha continue to grow as a city and keep the CWS here!!!!

I am a resident of south Omaha, and I support Omaha building the new stadium.
March 21st, 2008 at 5:55 pm
The future of Omaha and the College World Series is at stake over this issue. Rosenblatt is to old and can’t be updated. Build the new stadium and make Omaha a place to come visit and move into the future.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I support the city building the stadium in downtown Omaha.
March 21st, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Build the stadium downtown. It’s the only plan that makes sense!
March 21st, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Omaha is stupid if they do not support building a new stadium.
March 21st, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I support the mayor and the new stadium will be an economic and social stimulus to Omaha.
March 21st, 2008 at 9:51 pm
We, as professionals living downtown, support the continued economic development of the city through the building of a new stadium and securing a long-term contract for the NCAA College World Series.

I used to live in Omaha and my family and best friends still lives there. I support the new stadium downtown. It is a great idea for Omaha and the continued success of the CWS.

Hi, I’m Eric Berry and I support a new ballpark in Omaha.
March 21st, 2008 at 10:49 pm
My sons have been going to the CWS for years. Our family are huge fans. My oldest son played college ball. My youngest son plays varsity baseball in high school. I want the CWS to stay in Omaha so my grandaughters will be able to enjoy the fabulous times there.
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:12 am
We need to keep the CWS in Omaha! A large group of people fought building the Qwest Center, and we now see what that has done for the city. Build the new stadium!
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:02 am
I support this action, it makes plenty of sense to me and other residents of Omaha. As a member of the main board on a city council in Nebraska, anything that brings business to the state is great.
March 22nd, 2008 at 2:39 am
Do whatever it takes to keep the CWS in Omaha! It’s time to move forward and accept that sometimes, change needs to happen. Build it!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 6:32 am
I grew up going to Rosenblatt stadium. I enjoyed every second that that I spent there. I have to say that going to San Diego’s new Downtown stadium dwarfed any experience that I had at the outdated stadium in Omaha. A new downtown stadium would be much more convenient for out of towners like me that come back to visit. There are no hotels within a decent distance of Rosenblatt. There is very little restaurants and Bars within walking distance of the stadium. Parking is a nightmare. Why try to save a stadium that has no ammenities close by. I support the downtown stadium. Do what is right Big “O”.
March 22nd, 2008 at 6:40 am
I back Fahey and the new downtown. It’s time to move forward.
March 22nd, 2008 at 8:36 am
Build it – Omaha needs to continue to grow – so does the Zoo… I cannot believe this is such an issue, it has been needed for years. I am a SOG, love Rosenblatt but have been to other parks – have you ever seen a game at Haymarket Park/Hawks Field in Lincoln??? Holy Cow that place is awesome! It is silly not to want to grow & flourish.
If I had the money I would chip in – seriously – would a couple more pennies of taxes even be felt??? Seems like it would be worth it to me. There is a reason I (and many others) leave Omaha & move back! The Omaha Metro is awesome but can’t stop now!!
I spend so much time downtown now walking the riverwalk, watching people, enjoying the new and old in the area…it is awesome and want it to continue to grow!
Thanks for the website & the chance to show ‘them’ that there are more than the traveling anti-stadium crowd that have an opinion!!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:48 am
It just makes sense! Why would you spend the same money to rennovate a 60 year old stadium in place where nothing can happen — like hotels etc. I support the downtown stadium 100%.
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:57 am
Although I am not a big baseball fan, I do believe the new stadium will be a great asset to our growing city in many ways. I trust the mayor is simply doing the job we elected him to do: make Omaha a better place to live. Thank you Mayor Fahey!
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:06 am
The College World Series has been held in Omaha for over 50 years. The CWS is important for Nebraska in giving people the opportunity for seeing one of the many beauties Nebraska has. The CWS is part of Nebraska and taking it away would be terrible. Building a new Stadium will bring more people in to see it. I think its a great I idea for Omaha to build a new stadium…
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:56 am
Its the only way to go. Keep pressing forward, in spite of the naysayers. Mayor Fahey, lead on.
March 22nd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Think that this is in the best interest of the City and the CWS. Keep up the good work Mayor!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:09 pm
The positives greatly outweigh the negatives (if there are any).
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I want a new stadium!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I favor a new baseball stadium in downtown Omaha.

I forgot to add, the new downtown baseball park is *NOT* a Republican or Democrat issue.
The issue is what is best for Omaha;the entire city and all citizens.
I’ve been called names in the OWH by high-level members of the Nebraska Democratic party, but I support Mike Fahey on this issue.

March 22nd, 2008 at 1:03 pm
I support the CWS, and the City of Omaha. I am not a fan of HOW this came about, but I DO think that a downtown ballpark is in the best interest of the city.
Let’s get it done!
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Let’s build the downtown stadium!
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Its a good idea

We are 100% behind the building of a new stadium.
March 22nd, 2008 at 6:40 pm
lets build it rosenblatt was great in its time but a new downtown ballpark would be great for the future of the cws and downtown omaha lets put the money in a longterm investment.
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Let’s just build it please.
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Will be a great addiition to downtown! Imagine not having to pay and park in somebody’s backyard!
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Agree this stadium is needed to further the growth of downtown Omaha.
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:55 am
My sons and I enjoy the CWS each year. Lots of the things pointed out as problems with Rosenblatt are things we notice from the cramped hallway to get concessions to traffic and having to park on yards. There is really no proximity to hotels and other entertainment. A new downtown stadium would be a gem for the area… it is one of those things that everyone will look back in 10 years and wonder why there was any hesitation about building it.
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:58 am
I work in the entertainment industry.I have been in every major Arena and Stadium in the United States,Canada, and throughout the world. This new stadium is needed although i don’t completely agree with the location. There are dozens of minor league ballparks that are less than ten years old in cities that could more than handle the influx of fans for the CWS. Believe me when i say the NCAA would move the series in a heartbeat if the right offer is laid in front of them. Most people don’t realize how successful the Qwest Arena has been. MECA has done a wonderful job of managing the facility. In the industry i work in it is one of the best facilities to bring a show or sporting event into. The Arena is always a front runner in gross ticket sales in the country.Build the stadium and let MECA manage it and the facility will pay for itself and bring pleasure and entertainment to the Omaha area and it’s families.
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:20 am
I think Mike Kelley the owner of Zestos has said it best. It’s time for the people of Omaha to come together on this issue of the new stadium and show the nation that we are a city that is building for the future and can move forward and not dwell on the past. Mayor Fayhe and this committee should all be commended for their efforts and determination they have put towards saving the CWS for years to come.
As I have said before and have been told by NCAA coaches and players alike, the College World Series is not the Road to Rosenblatt but The Road to Omaha!!
Lets all get behind this great new stadium and keep the CWS here in Omaha where it belongs!!!!
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:34 am
100% for the stadium.
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:11 am
Get with it Omaha. The future is now. Build the stadium.
