Statement of Support
We believe building a new downtown stadium as proposed by the CWS Oversight Committee is the best option for the City of Omaha to keep the CWS in Omaha for the long-term. As such, the following people support that recommendation.

As opposed to spending 80 million on renovations to Rosenblatt, the new stadium idea is a no brainer.By building a new stadium while still playing at Rosenblatt makes for a smoother transition going from old to new rather than renovating while the stadium is still being used.Come in citizens , let’s support the mayor.
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:54 am
Build the new Stadium.
March 23rd, 2008 at 11:53 am
Omaha needs to keep growing!
March 23rd, 2008 at 2:02 pm
I fully support the new stadium as essential to Omaha’s continued economic development and to maintain Omaha’s identity as the home of the College World Series.
March 23rd, 2008 at 2:39 pm
I was born and raised in Omaha. I watched my brothers play championship games at Rosenblatt during their grade school and high school years. I consider myself really
buried in nostalgia. At first, I wanted Rosenblatt refurbished. But as time went on
I realized that truly was not the answer for a long term solution. We go to a lot of
CWS games and we loved everything that went with Rosenblatt including the friendly
neighbors that said hi to us as we walked the 2 miles to the ballpark. But there comes
a time when you just have to say we can’t live in the past. It’s time to look forward
to what all this means to our wonderful city. We need to keep the CWS here. It
is too important to our city and the economy it brings to Omaha during the 2 weeks
that it is here. We have gone to games at Haymarket Park in Lincoln and it is
wonderful. The open venues and design of the park are really conducive to a
great atmosphere. I assume the new stadium would be something like Haymarket.
People in Omaha need to remember how many folks fought the building of the Qwest
Center. There were naysayers all over the place. Too big, we won’t fill it. etc. etc.
Well, the Qwest Center is one of the best things that ever happened to Omaha. The
stadium will be also. Give it a chance. It’s time to stop looking back and start
looking at the future of Omaha.

I support a new stadium downtown. We should no longer put
money in the outdated Rosenblatt stadium. If our Councilmen
do not support the concept– we can vote them out in the next election!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 23rd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Please, do not let the vocal minority ruin this city. We need a new stadium and now is the time. Either way, Rosenblatt is gone – the only question is will we still have the CWS after it is gone.
Also, after spending the weekend downtown at the Qwest center and the NCAA basketball tournament, I’m convinced more than ever that we need a ballpark downtown for the NCAA.

I don’t even understand why there is opposition to a new stadium. Let’s do this thing!
March 23rd, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I think it’s ridiculous that anyone would be against progress such as this. If for no other reason, we must pursue this new stadium with all our hearts because Omaha cannot afford to lose the College World Series. I think that there is a faction out there that is, on general principles alone, against any change in the status quo. I’m sure that many of those opposed to a new stadium were also against the building of the Qwest Center as a replacement for Civic Auditorium. These people need to realize that change is good and beneficial for a growing city such as Omaha. Just look at the Qwest Center as an example and all the revenue and positive changes and development it has initiated in downtown and Omaha as a whole. I’m all for the new stadium!!!
March 23rd, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Omaha needs this new stadium. Omaha can’t afford to lose the CWS and the 40 million dollars it brings in every year.
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:00 pm
We need this to stay alive as a new and up coming city
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Rosenblatt was a great home for the College World Series but the time has come for Omaha and the College World Series to embrace a new and exciting future. I am excited to see a new stadium in Omaha and fully support Fahey’s plan for the new stadium.
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:30 pm
I am excited to see a new stadium in Omaha that is more convenient for everyone. More tourists and guess will be able to walk from their hotels to the stadium and hangout in the Old Market where they will see what all it has to offer.
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I am proud to voice my support for the new stadium in downtown. Rosenblatt has provided fond memories for many people but it is outdated and needs to be replaced. A location downtown makes sense for a city trying to revitalize its downtown and win a long-term contact with the NCAA. A lot of the pro-Rosenblatt supporters are fighting to keep their ability to charge CWS fans ridiculous prices to park on the yards. Its embarassing and unpractical. Let’s give Omaha a great stadium in a great downtown location!
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Thank you Mike Fahey for courageously leading the city through this politically difficult, yet necessary process to keep the College World Series in Omaha. Please keep working to educate those people who lack the vision to see the wisdom of building a new stadium downtown.
March 23rd, 2008 at 10:17 pm
I support Mayor Fahey and his proposl for the new stadium!
March 24th, 2008 at 3:20 am
I see this stadium as a very positive thing for omaha and surrounding cities. Great idea Fayhey.I appluad you ,Sir. BUILD IT ALREADY!
March 24th, 2008 at 3:27 am
If you build they will come! By them I mean the Save Rosenblatt folks. Once they realize what a money maker it is , and what an awsome sight it is to tourists. He maybe just maybe omaha can shed the image of the cornfields and tractors.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:30 am
I support the new stadium. Let’s keep the CWS in Omaha.
March 24th, 2008 at 7:48 am
A new stadium downtown makes alot of sense….everyone will benefit. Way to put the ball in-play Steve!
March 24th, 2008 at 8:16 am
After attending the NCAA regional this last week, there is no question that Omaha should do everything possible to develop NoDo.
March 24th, 2008 at 8:53 am
It’s vital that the city keep the CWS. I fully support Mike Fahey’s proposal and hope that the rest of Omaha can recognize the past as being great (Rosenblatt) and look at the future being even brighter. Fahey keep up the good work.
March 24th, 2008 at 8:58 am
I support the new stadium.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:15 am
We need to continue to move the city forward. A downtown stadium and the development it wil spawn will do that. Build it!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:23 am
First we all need to support this stadium and keep this event in Omaha.
Do people actually realize that the best we can hope for if Rosenblat is refurbished is being put into a rotation of sites and never have the entire event to ourselves again?
Second, I say that all outlying towns and people make it known that we will boycot everything Omaha if you manage to nix this whole thing. Including the Qwest center…
Also if this is successful I am going to start a new group called “Citizens Against Progress and All Things New and Shiny”, so I can circulate a petition to; recall the Qwest Center, tear down the Dodge Stree bypass, tear down the First National building, remove all the new lanes of Interstate 80, return Asarco back to the waterfront, get rid of Lewis and Clark landing, and forbid all things that smell of progress and newness.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I support the mayor and the new stadium proposal. Getting a new staduim, keeping taxes down and potentially increasing revenue for the city/state is what we want our mayor to be doing. We all love Rosenblatt, but it’s time to take the next step in the development of our great city.
Spending time at the Qwest this weekend for the NCAA, I couldn’t help but overhear countless discussions about how great it will be when the Series moves to No Do.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:46 am
I support the new stadium proposal. This is more than the CWS(although this is reason enough), its about redevelopment of the downtown area….
March 24th, 2008 at 10:05 am
We need to build the stadium downtown. If we don’t that will be a huge mistake, Omaha needs to grow and move forward.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:06 am
I wish people would realize that we need the new stadium to KEEP the CWS in Omaha.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:07 am
I know I dont live in Omaha but I do live close. Downtown Omaha is good already but with the addition of a NEW BALL PARK it was be great. It would make it more complete. The pictures and the plan look great. Lets get it built!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:07 am
I and my entire family are in total support of the new stadium. This whole concept is a nobrainer!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:08 am
First off, we don’t want to lose the CWS. Secondly, this would only be inhibiting the growth for the city of Omaha if it is not built. And third, look at the support this city provides for amateur sports. Plain and simple; revenue generator.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Build it!!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Its simple, the city must grow, or stagnate and die. Build it. Yes it will be difficult. Yes it will cost money, maybe some of mine. But as I am teaching my sons, anything good worth doing is hard and requires sacrifice for the postive end result.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Love the idea of a new stadium. We all need to support it if we would like Omaha to keep developing! If we lose CWS taxes will go up also (probably more) because of the revenue we will lose.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:13 am
I fully support a new stadium. Securing the CWS is vital to help continue the growth of our city.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I grew up in and love South O, but keep this city moving forward please!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:28 am
I must say at fisrt I hated to see Ronenblatt go. But once they expanded the size of the new stadium and gave up on move seats in and out for the cws and the zoo said that they would like to grow it looks like a great ideal as long as they can make up for the loss of parking. I think the people of Omaha need to think what that part of the city looked like just a couple of years ago and start to embrace what the city is trying to do.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:45 am
Build it!! The city needs to grow.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:50 am
The CWS is a vital event for Omaha. Let’s make sure it stays here!
March 24th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Let’s “build it!”
March 24th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Sounds like a good idea
March 24th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I am in full support of building the new stadium. The City and the people of Omaha cannot afford to watch the CWS go elsewhere. BUILD IT!!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Please bulid
March 24th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Build the new stadium. Keep the CWS in Omaha. Do what is best for Omaha.
March 24th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I fully support the proposed baseball stadium plans and my main concern is that the council, mayor, and the committee have heard mainly from the Omaha citizens that are against the proposal.
Everyone I talk to support the proposals but haven’t attended one of the three public forums nor have contacted their council members so the positives are out there but are not vocal in their support.
I hope the council weighs all the benefits of this major project that will be a big benefit to all of Omaha for many years to come.

I support the new stadium. Build it for the the future of Omaha. We can’t afford not to.
March 24th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I say, BUILD THE NEW STADIUM!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
We need this new stadium in the downtown area. I am 45 and have been going to the CWS since i was a young boy. I have 5 children who for the past 15+ yrs. also have enjoyed the CWS. 3 of them have and currently play high chool baseball with dreams of playing in Rosenblatt some day, but it’s not about Rosenblatt it’s about the CWS and the thrill it gives the young men who play the game. It’s about the “ROAD TO OMAHA” and the players, coaches and fans that come here to our city to be a part of this great tradition year in year out. My honest opinion, is the people against this are the people who will lose the money they make parking cars in there yards. To them I ask, Do you report that on your taxes each year? For this committee I say ” Keep up the great work !!”
March 24th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
If Omaha does not get this stadium the College World Series will leave Omaha. If you don’t want your taxes to be raised then you don’t want this stadium to leave. The College World Series brings Millions of dollars to Omaha resteraunts and stores not to mention the tax dollars. Rosenblatt is a dump. Why does Omaha have such a hard time with change? Especially when it is for the better? A general rule of life is, if you want to make someone mad, you change something.
I am proud of our Mayor for having the vision and the ambition to make Omaha a better place to live. I love the the way the new stadium looks and the prospect of improving the area around the Qwest is very exciting. I would also like to see our Zoo have more room to grow. One of the crown jewels of Omaha is our Zoo, why would we not want to improve that also?
As far as I am concerned, the only people that are against the stadium are those afarid of change, those that profit from having Rosenblatt stay in their neignhorhood (pay their entire year’s mortage from capitalizing on the parking fees they charge for parking in their lawn) and Elkhorn.
Omaha needs this!!! Go Mayor Mike!!!!
