Statement of Support
We believe building a new downtown stadium as proposed by the CWS Oversight Committee is the best option for the City of Omaha to keep the CWS in Omaha for the long-term. As such, the following people support that recommendation.

I fully support the Mayor in his efforts to keep the CWS in Omaha with a long term contract. The CWS is more important to the City of Omaha than Rosenblatt Stadium.

I fully support Omaha’s Mayor for his work on the CWS stadium project. For numerous reasons, I view the NoDo stadium as an incredible benefit to the city of Omaha. As much as I have enjoyed Rosenblatt, the new stadium would not only better the tournament itself, but the community as a whole.

I believe building a new downtown stadium as proposed by the CWS Oversight Committee is the best option for the City of Omaha to keep the CWS in Omaha for the long-term. As a CWS Season Ticket holder, I don’t want this great event going anywhere but here in Omaha, Nebraska.

I was very impressed by the NCAA tournament this past weekend and I think the ballpark downtown would draw the same kind of crowd, which would bring a large amount of business downtown.
At first I didn’t think we needed the Qwest Center, but I was totally wrong with that plan. I think the new ball park is a wonderful, progressive plan, for the betterment of Omaha.
The people who are against the ballpark are thinking smallmindedly. Yet, they are willing to spend $250,000 to recall Mayor Fahey. Even if the Mayor is gone, we will still be getting the ballpark downtown, so save the $250,000 and spend it on the city.

As a 26 year old born and raised in Omaha, I can finally say that I am excited and enthusiastic about living in this town. I believe that the success of this city heavily depends on its ability to attract and retain a younger generation. This can only be done by building/growing/expanding/rejuvenating the whole city. This new stadium is a piece of the puzzle to NoDo, Downtown, and the city as a whole, along with the projects at Aksarben, Midtown Crossing, and everything out west. I’m excited for Omaha, and I’m excited to take part in its growth and development.
March 24th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
For it.
March 24th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
We fully support the downtown ballpark and we wish those that are opposed would quit complaining and let’s “get the ball rolling,” before we jeopardize our famed College World Series!!
March 24th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
All for the new ball park downtown! Omaha has come a long ways in the past 10 years…..why in the world would we stop now! Keep our future bright!
March 24th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
It is time for the best amateur sports environment in the world to have a stadium that is modern and impressive. The downtown area will become a mecca for College Baseball fans and players alike!
March 24th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
Well, I dont know where you will place my opinion because, I LOVE the downtown ballpark idea but I ABSOLUTELY think Fahey needs to go for MANY other reasons! I will sign the Recall petition and enjoy the new ballpark, hopefully with a new mayor in office!
March 24th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
I think it’s a no brainer. Downtown is becoming a real strength in our city. This weekend was so cool down by the Qwest at the March Madness. THe people I talked to loved the location. I completely support the stadium and Mayor Fahey! Let’s build it!!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
My wife and I think this is a no brainer idea. I dont know how you can look at all the facts and figures and be opposed to this idea. We are season ticket holders for the cws and love the new stadium idea. A nother reason were so excited is , it will actually HAVE parking. What a great idea. Keep up the good work.
March 24th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
I approve of the new stadium
March 24th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
If you build it…………………
They will stay.
Thats the NCAA.
March 24th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
I’m 100% in support of building the stadium downtown as proposed!
March 24th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
I love the new stadium proposal. With all of the facts out about the new stadium, it is a no brainer that the NCAA will leave Omaha in 2011 without this new ballpark. It sends me into a rage every time I hear a Save Rosenblatt person say that the NCAA would be willing to come back to a renovated Rosenblatt if we present that option to them. The NCAA is an organization. A very smart organization. They will never sign a Rosenblatt extension without first checking out their other options. And once this happens, and other cities are explored, thats all she wrote for the CWS in Omaha. Other cities can and will offer WAY better facilities than we can. So count me in on the new stadium!
March 24th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
How exciting for Omaha! I think it’s a GREAT idea to build the stadium downtown. I support it 100%!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
This is a very Pro-Active idea and I love it. Lets keep improving our city!
March 24th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
It’s time Omaha to move on to bigger and better things for us,our city, and the NCAA. Sure Rosenblatt is nice and a great atmosphere with alot of history that we all know and love but let’s start fresh for younger generations to come so they can also know what the CWS is all about. Let’s keep it the “Road to Omaha” and not the road to somewhere else but here.
March 24th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Build the new stadium, and take Omaha to the next generation!
March 24th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Step up to the plate and build the new stadium!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Build it!
March 24th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Build the Stadium, thank you Mayor Fahey for trying to grow Omaha. I’m on board 100%. I would never sign a recall petition, go Stadium!
March 24th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Great idea. It will benefit our city for decades to come.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Seems to me that the downtown stadium is a no-brainer in terms of what is best for Omaha. Growth for the zoo, growth for the Old Market/downtown area. More money brought to town for events, higher property values in the area near both sites.
The only value I see in the current stadium is that of nostalgia, and this is coming from a historian.
March 24th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
I support the new stadium in downtown Omaha
March 24th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
please enter my name in favor of the new stadium
March 24th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
It is time for Omaha to move forward with a new and modern stadium. I believe a new stadium will add class and sophistication to any event being held there. Parking at Rosenblatt has become a joke and the vendors up and down the streets reminds me of an open market place in undeveloped cities. I fully support a new stadium being built and I believe Mayor Fahey has a great deal of private funding and the revenue a new stadium would generate would more than offset any increase in my taxes. Thank you.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
We need to do whatever it takes to keep the CWS in Omaha!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I strongly support the new stadium.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I think a new stadium will be a great addition to Omaha and I look forward to attending the CWS in downtown!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
The CWS is to important to Omaha to risk losing it! Build the new stadium.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Thank you to the Mayor and city council members who are supporting the new stadium!
March 24th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
This new stadium is extremely important to the advancement and economic stability of Omaha!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
I support Mayor Fahey and think this stadium will be as successful as the Qwest Center is. Thank you Mayor Fahey for sticking to your guns.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
What a beautiful addition to the downtown area. Having gone to the CWS for a number of years, we are looking forward to going for many years to come at the new stadium.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
I just saw an article on the ten pm Channel 6(NBC) local news about FOUND. Good coverage. I bet you are getting a bump in hits right now. Thank you for pointing out the obvious in the intrview clip when you stated the recall issue was an unnecessary expense because the election was only a year away. I liked the way WOWT balanced the news article. Thank you for standing up and advocating common sense change to balance the kneejerk recall effort.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I think this is the right thing to do and will be as successful as the Quest Center
March 24th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I THINK EVERYONE WHO SIGNS THE RECALL VOTE SHOULD BE THE ONES WHO WOULD PAY FOR THIS STUPID IDEA.AS A TAX PAYER IM NOT GOING TO PAY AN PART OF THIS IF IT EVEN HAPPENS,BUILD THE NEW DOWNTOWN STADUIM.SOUTH OMAHA IS WILLING TO THROW BIG WORDS AROUND,THEN THEY CAN’T BACK IT UP.SUPPORT THE MAYOR DO NOT SIGN ANY RECALL BALLOT.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Why has construction not yet begun? Build it already
March 24th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
I support the New stadium……. period.
LAW
March 24th, 2008 at 11:48 pm
Thank you. I think those opposed to the new stadium are looking at their own interests and not the City”s
March 24th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
I support Mayor Fahey and the new stadium.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:14 am
I am 27 years old and have lived in Omaha for 9 years, this is the city I now call home and hope to for the rest of my life. I am personally excited about the growth and renovation of No Do. I believe that building a downtown stadium is a large piece in the puzzle to not only make Omaha the permanant location of the CWS, but to attract people to make Omaha their home.
The only problem I forsee is the ammount of traffic in NoDo when Bruce Springsteen is playing at the Qwest while Billy Joel is playing an outdoor concert at the new ball park… What a problem to have!
My friends and I have talked about how nice it would be to go downtown after work on a Friday evening catch a ballgame and then walk to the Old Market for drinks. Since living in Omaha I have never attended an Omaha Royals game, however I guarantee that I would attend several games if they played a stones throw from all the action downtown.
Omaha is my new home, and having a downtown ballpark is something that will make it that much tougher for me to consider leaving in the future.
March 25th, 2008 at 1:21 am
I am 100% ready for a new stadium.
March 25th, 2008 at 1:53 am
I don’t have a parking lot around rosenblatt so build the new stadium !! I don’t try to find time to go to rosenblatt. With me about to turn 21 I would love to have the stadium in walking distance from all the bars. Beer+baseball+awsome view+Fireworks on occation=A GREAT TIME. People would actually take time to watch the royals play. I know I would ,and they have been wanting a new venue for years now. BUILD IT NOW!!!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:31 am
I support Mayor Fahey. He is doing what he thinks is good for the city. Rosenblatt has served it’s purpose over many, many years. It is time to retire it & build a new stadium. The zoo can really benefit from this also. Let’s make it happen. It is a win, win situation for everyone in the metro!
March 25th, 2008 at 7:32 am
We need the new ballpark. If Omaha wants to be viewed as a “progressing and up-and-coming” city, then they need the ammenities of such a city. The “Blatt” is a dump and does not do our city justice.
March 25th, 2008 at 7:35 am
I believe Mayor Fahey is on the right track to securing the long-term rights to the College World Series. All of the “Save Rosenblatt” rhetoric is sadly reminiscent of the mentality of my hometown, Lincoln, NE. While I had a lovely childhood in Lincoln and still think of the town fondly, as an adult I find the mindset in Lincoln frustrating, at best. At times it is completely infuriating. There is such resistance to change that the town is crippled by the status quo. Streets that are in desperate need of widening remain two lane roads. Entertainment venues which need replacement are instead refurbished. The result is a shiny coat of paint on a tired town. Unfortunately, paint chips and the citizens of Lincoln are left with the decay. While Lincoln remains a town, I view Omaha as a city. A city with vision.
Without sounding like a hopeless cliché, change is the only constant. I fear that the citizens of Omaha whose sentimentality has made them change-averse, will grind the progress Omaha has made toward being a thriving mid-size city to a screeching halt. Though they are very vocal, I don’t believe the naysayers represent the majority of Omahans, nor the best interest of the city. They seem determined to drag Omaha down from “city” to “town” status.
In addition, the area around Rosenblatt is actually rather unsightly. The thousands of visitors who visit our beautiful city during the CWS are treated to the site of dilapidated homes and weedy lawns overrun by far-from-cheaply-parked vehicles. The site itself can only be reached by car or bus from their downtown hotels. By putting the ballpark downtown, many of our visitors could walk to the games from the area restaurants and hotels. What a beautiful experience walking to the ballpark on a lovely spring evening. Families like mine, could enjoy dinner in the Old Market and then walk over to a Royals game. No such option is available to me now.
PLEASE BUILD THE NEW BALLPARK!

If Omaha don’t build it Indy will-they are waiting on the chance to jump on the wagon! Then where will all these individuals go that are against it????
